Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog) Clinic
B.K.S. Iyengar describes this foundational asana as a full-body stretch that strengthens the arms, legs, feet, and spine; relieves fatigue; rejuvenates the body; boosts immunity and digestion; increases blood flow to the sinuses; and uplifts the mind and spirit.
But let’s be honest—if you don’t understand the mechanics, it can feel anything but restful. Often referred to as a “resting pose,” Downward Dog can be surprisingly challenging without the proper knowledge and preparation.
In this clinic, we’ll break down the posture and prepare the body with passive stretches and Yoga Therapy Balls. Through self-massage, myofascial release, and rolling techniques, we’ll work to release stiffness, hydrate fascia, and create more space in the body.
We’ll methodically stretch, massage, and explore pose variations—returning to Downward Dog again and again to notice changes and build understanding. By the end, you’ll have practical tools to adapt and refine your Downward Dog in both your home practice and studio classes.
All therapy balls will be provided. If you prefer to bring your own, just let me know—I’m happy to send you details on sizes.
